An extensive extra-curricular program offers international students the chance to participate in camps, excursions, drama and school musical productions, debating teams, sporting events, and social events. These include a Northern Territory camp for Year 11 students, the annual Debutante Ball, Valedictory Dinner and work experience. Excursions to visit universities such as Melbourne and Monash University are organized for international students as well as excursions to the local area.
Specialist tutoring program and afterschool homework program
Specialist language teachers provide academic support during classes and special tutorials where needed for international students. An afterschool homework program is staffed by teachers to provide students with extra assistance in their studies. Extra tuition is available after school in most subjects.
Careers and University
International students receive individual guidance in choosing subjects in Years 10, 11 & 12 to suit their academic abilities and future university and career aspirations. Students may choose to do a VET subject that provides them with both a vocational certificate and credit towards their VCE.
The college Careers Coordinator provides counseling to students to help determine the best career pathways, and then to apply to universities and select courses.
Student leadership program
The Mount Eliza Secondary College Student Leadership Program provides opportunities for elected international students to play an important student leadership role in the school alongside their Australian peers. An International Student Leader is elected each year and has many opportunities to represent the international student group by speaking at assemblies and liaising with the International Coordinator. This program also recruits Australian students to assist international students with their integration into College life.
